Pittsboro Gallery of Arts Hosts Emerging Artist Exhibition.

In its second year, the Emerging Artist Program is designed to provide high school students with firsthand experience in the business aspects of presenting art and participating in the operation of a gallery. Six mentors from the Chatham Art Guild are actively participating in the program:
Sarah Graham, Steevie Jane Parks, Kathy Flood, Jane Eckenrode, Kristin Bergsten and Donna Stubbs
Local high school students can apply for the program directly from their schools, once accepted, they are paired with a mentor. Throughout their collaboration, young artists commit to a minimum of 5 hours of collaborative work and contribute an additional 5 hours as volunteers, assisting with Guild activities. This involvement enables them to understand how Guild members operate a gallery, while marketing, and promoting their artwork using various channels, including print material, the website, social media, and more.
