Pamela Freese
For nearly a decade, I've been able to focus on developing my metalsmithing skills and create wearable art. Couillard Cloisonné' is my studio where I create sculptural jewelry frequently inspired by nature, rural themes in NC and occasionally areas of social interest (Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Ukraine). Metalsmithing enables me to create shape and texture through physical, chemical and temperature manipulation, yet it can be restrictive when it comes to color. Incorporating cloisonne'/champleve' enamel adds elements of light and color enabling me additional freedom to create unique works. I also incorporate Keum-boo, an ancient Korean gilding technique to add gold and have begun to explore granulation to expand my fusing techniques.
