Trudy Thomson
I am drawn to the rhythms and patterns found in nature. My works explore cross currents of color, the pulsing of fibers, and shifts in hue. In the early seventies, I attended classes at the Rochester Institute of Technology. Over the years have taken numerous classes at Penland School of Crafts. As a weaver, I apply a range of techniques and position variegated dyed fibers to denote shifts in visual space. My marbled pieces for display are applied by hydroprinting acrylics to silk or rice paper; the overlays of different patterns make each piece graphic and unique. I also create hand-marbled and woven scarves, as well as fused glass and even jewelry.
