Decoding Art: A Viewer’s Interpretation

Join us June 21st from 5 to 8pm when Pittsboro Gallery of Arts member Trudy Thomson references the artwork on display and unveils “Artistic Alchemy“ and decodes the impact of visual techniques.

Trudy takes us on a journey into the captivating realm where science meets art, unraveling the secrets behind why certain artworks leave an indelible mark on our hearts and minds. Trudy holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and a Master’s Degree in Media from UNC — where she was taught graphic design principles that influence a viewer’s interpretation of visual images.

This presentation delves into the intricate science and psychology of visual thinking, revealing the impact of artistic techniques on our emotional responses. From the choice of lines that guide the eye to the manipulation of shapes and the infusion of colors, each element plays a crucial role in shaping our perception.

Trudy references the range of artistic styles, spanning from realism to ethereal landscapes of impressionism, the emotive expressionist style, and the abstract realms that challenge conventional interpretation.

These diverse styles create a spectrum of visual experiences, each with its unique capacity to evoke emotions and provoke thought.

Join us on June 21st from 5 to 8pm for Trudy Thomson’s dynamic presentation and gain insights that can elevate your understanding of the art that surrounds us.
